This is a great reminder that sometimes we just need to make a thing even if it isn’t beloved by an audience. It still hurts when you spent a lot of time on that pancake though!

So well illustrated and described! I loved it 🤩 It got me wondering about your "first pancake" book. I am sure it will be great, judging by the comic you created to describe your frustration. It says a lot about you, your creative eye and your self-awareness. Looking forward to reading it 😍💯

Oh wow. Yeah, I feel you on this so much. It's so hard when pitches don't go anywhere. But I love the pancake metaphor so much.

I feel your pain. I have a book out on submission that's going nowhere fast. Even after you make the thing, there are so many hoops to leap through. And finally, when a book hits the shelves ... it still feels more like a lottery ticket than a successful completion. Ugh.

The firstborn child is also known as the "first pancake." I'm one of those deformed gooey-burnt things.
